Over and over again, I point at police abuses, police violence, and I say, “Reform this how?” Here’s another one. LA county deputy follows this guy for miles – he calls 911 who tells him “if you’re not being pulled over you’re not being pulled over, what do you want us to do?” – until he finally pulls in to a 7/11 to get something to drink when the deputy attacks him as he gets out of his car.

I also say “Cops lie,” because there was a lot of lying by this cop – a LOT of lying by this cop – until this video showed up.

Despite the lies being revealed, the police are continuing to defend the deputy and attempting to land three felonies on the trans man this LA county deputy attacked.

There are no good cops while “good cops” line form lines to protect “bad cops.”

So I ask again, like I keep doing:

Reform this how?

A couple of good reminders linked in this post - the BLM protests saw alt-right accellerationists infiltrate to start violence specifically to get black people blamed for it, and yes, this has been proven in court.

Also, police knew, and blamed BLM and anti-fascists anyway. That's also linked in this post.

None of this has got better, as continuing police/Republican hysteria about "antifa" shows. They know better. They just want it this way.

Tell me how you reform this. I'll wait.

One thing I really have to ask people to keep in mind as they talk about gun licensing and mandatory training and all that is...

...who is going to administer all that? Who is going to be given that job, if somehow it actually were to happen?

I'll tell you who.

Cops.

That's who will get the job. Maybe not everywhere, but most places. They have the shooting ranges, after all. They have "training," as racist and terrible as that training often is, and how much they shrug off all the parts of it that attempt to make them better. They have the facilities, and Americans won't pay a goddamn dime they don't have to. Most places. Just like ambulances first went to cops, so will this.

And that's why all the white nationalists and authoritarians and fascists and straight white dudes will get to keep all the guns they want, and everyone else will be completely disarmed.

You know I'm right. You know I am.

Just as the police were the slave catchers, just as the police were the backbone of the KKK, right now the police are centres of violent white supremacist and authoritarian thinking - and, often, violence.

And yes, that means even places like Seattle, where - as one cop told protesters over his bullhorn after another cop got busy driving his cop car at protesters - "we wouldn't have all this trouble if more people would just like our Trump government."

(It's on video, look it up if you want.)

It's been true for two centuries of American policing and it's still true now.

I'm not going to get into about any kind of real argument about of gun control right now. Emotions are high for damned good reasons and I more than respect that.

I just want people to think about who is going to enforce whatever they want to implement, because the person doing the enforcement often matters much more than the actual law.

And in this country, the people who will be doing the enforcement - the gatekeeping, the determining of who can and cannot have firearms...

...will be the cops.

Think about that.

nnnNNGNGH I shouldn't be doing this so late but I keep not doing it so

OKAY. You know what's happening with Pence and the 25th Amendment, right?

Let's go over it real quick.

-----

He keeps (reportedly) going back and forth on yanking Trump via the 25th Amendment.

Really, he _really_ doesn't want to. He's already facing the base's wrath. This would push them even further over the top and so honestly I kinda get it. Shit's gonna be even scarier for him.

-----

But he knows he should. And the Democrats know he should. And this whole impeachment timetable, sure, some of it is legit rules issues.

But some of it is also trying to force him to go ahead and do it. Pull him out via the 25th Amendment - or we'll impeach. Again.

-----

Difference is: this time, the Senate will convict. I'm pretty sure. I think they're pretty sure too. Not sure about removal, definite on the "no more runs for president" part.

The fact that _this_ is happening is the _only_ reason Pence is still thinking about the 25th. As things fall apart, remember how we got here.

-----

If the possibility of imminent impeachment goes away, so will ANY talk of the 25th Amendment solution. The Senate GOP do _not_ want to have to take that vote. Not again, not with what's happened.

-----

It's either political suicide (defend the seditionist fascist) or political suicide _and_ personal danger (convict/disallow future runs for office).

That's the beast they've created.

That's not what it should be about, but it is.

-----

They have to make this choice, and of them, _for them_, the 25th Amendment is the _least_ personally damaging. They need to talk Pence and the remaining cabinet into removing Trump that way, to avoid the fallout from the trial.

-----

And that's the _politics_ reason why the Democrats need to be charging full-steam ahead on impeachment, and why _we_ need to be hammering the Democrats constantly not to let up.

I mean _constantly_. Hi, @RepDelBene - impeachment. NOW.

-----

Because I've seen too much of this crowd working for too long. If they can scuttle their way out of definite action? Most of them will.

This is one of those rare moments when nonstop bombardment - tweets, phone calls, email, whatever - can matter.

Do. Not. Let. Up.

-----

Because Tr*mp cannot be allowed to finish his term. He's got to go. 25th amendment or impeachment - or at least impairment against running again - these HAVE. TO. HAPPEN.

-----

Because either way, we've got a fascist insurgency now. The question is whether their orangefarbener Anführer is involved in 2024, and whether we get to do all this - all _this_ - again.

On top of everything else.

We can't have that.

Impeach. Remove. Now.
